CLAT Exam is one of the most prominent law entrance exams in the country for those willing to pursue a 5-year degree in law. This examination is conducted every year by the consortium of NLUs. Some other exams include AILET, SLAT, LSAT, MH CET, etc. Each of these exams is applicable to different colleges. Hence, you must wisely select the right exam for yourself.

There are many amazing colleges in India for those willing to study law. But the top 5 (in order of their NIRF rankings) are NLSIU Bangalore - National Law School of India University, Bangalore, NLU Delhi - National Law University, New Delhi, NLU Hyderabad - NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, NUJS Kolkata - The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, and JMI New Delhi - Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

As of now, there is no age bar for those willing to pursue law as a career. Of course, if you wish to pursue a Five-Year LLB, the age limit is 20 years for general-category candidates, and 22 for all the candidates belonging to the reserved categories. On the contrary, Three-Year LLB courses have no age limit whatsoever.

Non-resident Indians or NRIs that fulfil the eligibility requirements for the CLAT exam can definitely appear for it. The primary criterion is that you should have scored at least 45% marks in the specific qualifying exam.

Yes, there is a negative marking scheme in the CLAT entrance examination. The question paper comprises 120 multiple-choice questions. If you answer correctly, you will get 1 mark, but on marking the wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be reduced for each incorrect answer.

Unlike all the other National Law Universities in the country, NLU Delhi does not accept the CLAT scorecard for admissions. They have a separate entrance exam for law aspirants willing to pursue courses like BA LLB, LLM, and Ph. D. programs, i.e., the AILET exam (All India Law Entrance Test).

This depends on the specific NLUs that you are aiming to get admission to. If you want to study at the top 5 NLUs, the CLAT cutoff score will be between 95 and 100. For other NLUs, you can expect a cutoff around 80 to 85.

If your application form for the CLAT entrance examination is not submitted successfully, you will have to attempt and fill it out from the beginning.

To check the status of your application or registration for the CLAT form, you need to follow some simple steps. You need to log in by filling out your registration details and password. If your application has been submitted successfully, your login will be successful. Moreover, you will also receive an email for confirmation about your registration status.

The total duration within which you have to complete the Common Law Admission Test examination is two hours. You will have 120 multiple-choice questions to solve within these 120 minutes. If you have forgotten your login credentials but want to access your CLAT admit card, you will have to reset your password. There, you need to add your registered mobile number, and “Request an OTP”. Re-login and set a new password. Click the “Reset Password” button, and you are done.

Yes, if you fail to or opt out of taking admission to any NLU, you will get the total counselling fee as a refund.

The Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU) has 4 Supernumerary Seats under the sports quota. Out of these, 2 seats are reserved for boys and 2 seats are reserved for girls.

During the CLAT examination, candidates are allowed to use rough sheets for calculations, sketching, or rough work purposes. This sheet is provided to the candidates by the exam centre itself.

Generally, it takes approximately 5 to 6 days from the date of the examination for the final answer key to be released. Using this answer key, you will get a better idea of how much you will be able to score in the CLAT examination.

The CLAT counselling fee is INR 30,000 for students from the general category whereas it is INR 20,000 for SC/ST students and other reserved category candidates.

If you want to submit your application for the Common Law Admission Test successfully, you need to upload the following documents without fail:
  • 10th mark sheet
  • 12th mark sheet
  • Identity Proof (can be Aadhar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License)
  • Email ID
  • Passport-size photographs (must have plain background)
  • Signature
  • Category certificate for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved category candidates
  • PWD certificate (if applicable)
  • BPL certificate (if applicable)

If you receive a blank application form for CLAT, it is an indication that your application has not been successfully submitted. In such a case, you need to fill out the form freshly and ensure that you are filling out all the necessary details properly and submitting it successfully.

Generally, open campus visits are scheduled more than a month before the day of the examination. For the CLAT 2024 registered candidates, the Campus Day Visit was between 20th September and 3rd November 2023. In one cycle, a candidate gets only one campus visit.

In order to download the admit card for your CLAT examination, you need to visit the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Then, you need to enter your login credentials and password correctly to access your portal. There, you will get the link to “Download CLAT Admit Card”. You will hence get your admit card. You can take a printout of the same from your nearby store.

If you are wondering if you need to have a minimum score for each section of the CLAT examination, the answer is no. There is no sectional cut-off in the Common Law Admission Test examination.

Yes. Among the total seats in the different National Law Universities in India, 30 seats are reserved for female candidates. Of course, this doesn’t include the female NRI candidates. There is a different reserved quota for these.

You can get admission to any NLU except the top 5 ones and DNLU if you score 80 marks in the CLAT examination.

Yes, CLAT examinations make it comfortable for specially-abled persons to attempt the test. They get the liberty to choose a scribe for themselves. If they don’t want to do so, they can also apply for scribe at the CLAT office.
