The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has declared its intention to petition the Supreme Court for relief from the Delhi High Court's directive mandating a revision of the CLAT 2025 merit list.
Due to ongoing legal matters, the Consortium has notified candidates that the counselling process for CLAT 2025 will be postponed. Once the appeal in the Supreme Court is resolved, a new schedule will be announced.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025, which took place on December 1 for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions, had its final answer key released on December 7. Following this, numerous candidates raised concerns regarding the CLAT PG final answer key, citing potential inaccuracies. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the "unreasonable" fee of Rs 1,000 per question for submitting objections.

In response to a writ petition, the Delhi High Court instructed the Consortium to amend the merit list published on December 7 on its official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. On December 20, a single-judge bench determined that the answers to two questions in the entrance examination were incorrect and directed the Consortium to revise the merit list accordingly. Subsequently, the Delhi High Court division bench chose not to overturn the order of the single bench.
In an official communication, the Consortium indicated, “We are seeking appropriate relief from the Supreme Court against this order at the earliest opportunity due to the ongoing court vacation.” According to the initial timeline, the first merit list for admissions was scheduled for release on December 26, 2024. However, in light of the legal challenges, the release of the list and the subsequent counselling process have been delayed. The notice further stated that a revised timeline would be provided after the conclusion of the appeal process in the Supreme Court.
