CLAT PG · AILET PG

LLM Entrance (CLAT PG / AILET PG) Preparation

LLM entrances test reading of legal extracts (judgments, statutes, articles) more than undergraduate GK. Undergraduate Legal Reasoning is useful but not sufficient.

  • Papers: CLAT PG · AILET PG (LLM)
  • Institute: Knowledge Nation Law Centre (Delhi — Hauz Khas & Gurgaon — Sector 14)

1 Syllabus / exam pattern

  • CLAT PG: comprehension of legal texts and questions from constitutional law, jurisprudence, contract, tort, criminal law, international law and related fields as notified by the Consortium.
  • AILET PG: NLU Delhi’s LLM paper — confirm sections on the latest notification.
  • KN’s LLM course page is the on-site programme map; this page does not invent paper-wise marks.

2 Previous year questions (PYQs)

Explained UG papers still train passage discipline. For PG, use Consortium/NLU Delhi papers when hosted; do not invent a PG dump here.

  • Constitutional law extracts (basic structure, rights, federalism).
  • Jurisprudence vocabulary in context.
  • Contract / criminal / public international law problem questions attached to a passage.

Papers:

4 Strategy

  • Read one judgment extract daily; summarise the holding in three lines.
  • Revise a short constitutional law skeleton (Parts III, IV, XI, amending power).
  • Practise PG mocks under the year’s notified length — not UG 120-Q timing.

5 Common mistakes

  • Treating CLAT PG as undergraduate Legal Reasoning with longer words.
  • Memorising case lists without reading an extract.
  • Ignoring AILET PG’s own pattern.

6 Worked approach

Worked approach: a constitutional extract on reasonable restrictions. Question: which Article is the passage discussing?

Match the rights-and-restrictions vocabulary to Article 19 (or whichever Article the extract cites).

Do not pick DPSPs (Part IV) if the extract is about enforceable rights.

If the extract never names the Article, infer only from the test it describes.
