CLAT Current Affairs & GK Preparation

CLAT GK is not a yearbook MCQ dump. Passages sit on news, history or policy; questions test whether you read the extract and hold a usable current-affairs map.

  • Papers: CLAT UG Current Affairs including General Knowledge
  • Institute: Knowledge Nation Law Centre (Delhi — Hauz Khas & Gurgaon — Sector 14)

1 Syllabus / exam pattern

  • Consortium CLAT UG: Current Affairs including General Knowledge — passages of about 450 words from news, journalistic sources and non-fiction.
  • Questions may examine contemporary events as well as historical, arts, culture or legal-adjacent static GK tied to the passage.
  • Re-check the latest Consortium pattern on KN’s CLAT syllabus page.

2 Previous year questions (PYQs)

Archive papers show recurring clusters:

  • International organisations, summits and reports named in the passage.
  • Indian polity / economy facts that the extract assumes.
  • Awards, sports and science only when the passage actually uses them.
  • Legal current affairs (Bills, judgments) as GK, not as Legal Reasoning principles.

Papers:

4 Strategy

  • Read the passage first; many answers are in the text even if the topic is “GK”.
  • Keep a thin static map: Constitution basics, international bodies, Indian geography.
  • Tag every news story to a CLAT-style heading (polity, IR, economy, environment).

5 Common mistakes

  • Skipping the passage and answering from memory.
  • Hoarding yearbooks instead of revising a short list.
  • Confusing Legal Reasoning (principle–fact) with GK about a court case.

6 Worked approach

Worked approach: a news-style passage on a summit or report. Question asks which body published it.

Scan the extract for the named organisation before recalling from GK class.

If two bodies are mentioned, match the verb (released / hosted / funded) to the option.

Eliminate near-miss agencies that are true in another year but not in this passage.
